Olivia Lim

Olivia was the ACAM Program Coordinator.

Olivia is a graduate student completing her MA in English Literature at the University of British Columbia. Working at the intersection of critical disability studies and Asian transpacific studies, her thesis explores how understandings of disability and debility impact frameworks of redress in contemporary Asian transpacific literature.

Gabby Abando

Gabby was an ACAM Dialogues Organizer.

Gabby (she/her) was born to two Filipino parents in Japan, grew up in China, and now her family resides in the United States while she studies on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sʔəl̀ilwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) people. Gabby is in the second year of her MA in Sociology at UBC. Inspired by her mobile and multicultural childhood, Gabby’s work focuses on the relationship between city social infrastructure and cultural identity development. When not working, Gabby can be found at the cinema watching campy horror movies, going to bookstores, and volunteering at the local rabbit rescue.

Alexandra Liaw

Alexandra was an ACRE Special Projects Coordinator.

Alexandra is an undergraduate student of English Literature and History at the University of British Columbia. Her interests include public history and cultural heritage.

June Chow

June specialized in community archives theory and practice, with an expertise in Chinese Canadian records.

Cat Hung

Cat worked as an INSTRCC Student Research Assistant.

Cat is a third year undergraduate, recently transferred into the Global Resource Systems program, and specializing in sustainable agriculture and urban studies in British Columbia. She hopes to learn more about Chinese Canadian culture through culinary and agricultural food practices.  

Nathan Ko

Nathan was the ACAM Special Projects Coordinator – Multimedia Production.

Nathan Ko is a student at the University of British Columbia (UBC), located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sʔəlílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples. He is currently pursuing a BCom degree with a major in Marketing. Passionate about equitable representation in media and storytelling for social change, he is excited to produce the ACAM Dialogues Podcast, which explores the intersections of Asian Canadian identity, pop culture, and current events. 

Deborah Du

Deborah worked as an INSTRCC Student Research Assistant.

Deborah is a 4th year Global Resource System student studying environmental sustainability at UBC, also enrolled in the B+MM program. As a 1st generation Canadian immigrant, she is passionate about exploring diverse cultural narratives and bridging Asian and Western cultures.
